Lyceum Raises €10.3 Million in Pre-Seed Funding to Reinvent Access to
Compute and Power Europe’s Sovereign Digital Future
Lyceum aims to give everyone the ability to run code in the cloud at lightning speed, by
developing one-click GPU deployment, automated hardware selection, upfront pricing
and price-elastic scheduling.Lyceum builds the first user centric AI cloud, fully European. This is facilitated by their
own GPU-infrastructure which is built in the EU with local partners.€10.3 million in pre-seed funding led by redalpine, with participation from 10x Founders.
Lyceum is mission-critical for EU strategic autonomy: Lyceum is creating a fully
EU-sovereign, high-performance compute infrastructure, ensuring European
researchers, enterprises, and governments won’t need to depend on extra-regional
providers again.
Berlin, Germany, and Zurich, Switzerland, 24 June 2025 — In a decisive move toward a
sovereign European cloud and AI ecosystem, Lyceum, the deep-tech startup building a
revolutionary AI cloud, today announced its €10.3 million pre-seed investment led by redalpine,
with participation from 10x Founders. The funding will help Lyceum work towards its mission of
ensuring Europe’s compute sovereignty and making access to compute as seamless and
universal as electricity.
In a world where innovation depends on immense processing power, Lyceum removes the
complexity of traditional high-performance computing. Lyceum wants to give everyone the ability
to run code in the cloud at lightning speed, by developing one-click GPU deployment,
automated hardware selection, upfront pricing and price-elastic scheduling. By enforcing EU
data-residency, security-by-design and transparent energy sourcing, Lyceum empowers
startups, enterprises and public bodies to run AI training, large-scale simulations and
data-intensive workloads without relying on extra-territorial cloud monopolies.
Magnus Grünewald, Co-Founder & CEO of Lyceum: At Lyceum, our vision is to build
the first user-centric GPU cloud, making compute accessible to everyone. Europe is
lagging behind the rest of the world in terms of compute capacity and we‘ll do whatever it
takes to change that.
Sebastian Becker, General Partner at redalpine: “Lyceum is building the sovereign
European answer to AI compute. We’re deeply impressed by the team’s bold vision,
relentless ambition, and exceptional speed of execution.”
Jan Becker, Partner at 10x: "Lyceum is building what Europe urgently needs: secure,
sovereign infrastructure for the AI age. A young, ambitious team with deep technical
insight and remarkable velocity, they’re operating in one of the most strategically vitalmarkets of our time. As compute becomes the defining commodity of the 21st century,
Lyceum is positioned to become a cornerstone of Europe’s digital future.”
The fresh capital will fuel Lyceum’s growth on three fronts. First, it will deepen the company’s
technical bench by expanding engineering and commercial teams to accelerate development of
the most user-centric GPU cloud on the market and deliver new features at pace. Second, it will
fund the rollout of fully EU-sovereign compute zones - purpose-built, renewable-powered data
centre clusters that anchor the Lyceum platform in Denmark, France, and beyond. Finally, the
round enables the startup to broaden strategic alliances with semiconductor makers and other
hardware partners, laying the cornerstones of a truly European compute infrastructure and a
strong foundation for Lyceum’s long-term expansion.
